Woman found deceased in Morton-area house fire Friday evening

A woman has been found deceased after a Morton-area house fire Friday evening.

According to the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office, the Redwood Falls Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a house on fire at about 8:13 p.m. on March 31. The fire department was able to successfully put out the fire at the house, which was located on Reservation Highway 1. Firefighters examining the house afterward located the body of a deceased female victim.

The incident is currently being investigated by the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office and the State Fire Marshall Office to determine the cause of the fire.

Also assisting on the scene were the Lower Sioux Tribal Police Department, Morgan Police Department, Carris Ambulance Service, and the Morton Fire Department.
