Construction of a roundabout at Highway 14/Highland Avenue in New Ulm is expected to begin May 20, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The project includes constructing a single-lane roundabout at Highway 14/Highland Avenue, new sidewalk and trail to connect to existing locations, and lighting.

Highway 14 from Brown County Road 12 to N Garden Street in New Ulm will be closed during construction. Traffic will be detoured to Brown County Roads 12 and 29. Access to businesses will remain open during construction.

Construction on the roundabout project is expected to be complete in late July.  Schedules are subject to change depending upon weather and other unforeseeable circumstances.

Benefits of the project include improved traffic flow and enhanced safety for motorists and pedestrians. M. R. Paving & Excavating, Inc. was awarded the project with a bid of $2,265,772.52.
