A Danube man was arrested in Willmar on Wednesday for allegedly threatening “to shoot the place up”.

On May 1, at 2:08 pm, Willmar Police were dispatched to a business at the 4100 block of South 1st Street. The caller advised there was a male at the business who was unhappy, and had threatened to shoot the place up. The caller also said the same man had been at the business a few days before that, and had threatened to return with a firearm. Employees were evacuated as officers were responding to the scene.
Officers arrived a short time later and confronted the suspect inside the business. The suspect was compliant and was quickly secured by officers on scene. The male party was identified as a 72 year old man from Danube. No firearm was located on the suspect.
Several witnesses were interviewed and the male was arrested for Threats of Violence. He is currently being held in the Kandiyohi County Jail. The Willmar Police Department was assisted by the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office and the MN State Patrol.
No civilians or officers were injured as a result of this call.
