Officials at the Minnesota Board of Animal Health say they’re “on guard” after confirmation of six new cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza in turkey flocks.

The new cases are in Meeker, Becker, Kandiyohi, Blue Earth, and Redwood counties. State Veterinarian Doctor Shauna Voss says this is another reminder for producers to step up biosecurity measures.

Voss says spring and fall migration are high-risk periods for bird flu.
