A St. Paul man, Mark Christopher Borst, age 46, has been sentenced in Redwood County Court for felony drug charges resulting from a traffic stop in Redwood Falls.

According to court documents, on Dec. 20, 2019, a Redwood County deputy noted a green Toyota van onto the Bridge Street frontage road. The deputy ran a check on the license plate, and saw the van was stolen. The deputy noted the van park in a local restaurant parking lot, and a male and female get out and enter the restaurant.

Later that evening, the deputy was able to identify Borst, and learned he had a felony warrant for his arrest from Hennepin County. Borst was informed he had been driving a stolen vehicle. Borst denied he had been driving it, despite having a Toyota key fob in his pocket that was used to unlock the van.

During an inventory search on the vehicle, officers found traces of methamphetamine, marijuana was, and a variety of drug paraphernalia.

On Sept. 16, Mark Christopher Borst was sentenced for felony controlled substance crime in the fifth degree and a misdemeanor drug paraphernalia charge to a total of 19 months in the correctional facility in St. Cloud, stayed for 19 months, 226 days local confinement, supervised probation for three years, and fees and fines of $135.
