On Wednesday, starting at 9 a.m., Renville County Public Health began taking reservations for their one-day COVID vaccination clinic set for Thursday. The officials made use of a new system for scheduling, and stated it worked well for the most part, with only a few glitches.

The system for registering opened at 9 a.m., and was filled by 9:30 a.m.

Jill Bruns, Renville County Public Health Director, stated, “This was our first attempt at scheduling a public clinic, and we anticipated some glitches.  I want to assure everyone that appointments were NOT booked before 9 a.m. The call center software reached capacity immediately when over 200 callers entered the system at 9 a.m.  This caused the message that the clinic was full to kick in.  It is one huge lesson we have learned, that we need to make the call center waiting room bigger and have more bodies on deck for overflow calls.”

Because only limited amounts of vaccine are made available, Renville County Public Health is limited on the number of registrations that can be scheduled.
