A Redwood Falls man, Gary Iverson, age 59, was sentenced in Redwood County Court for felony-level DWI over an incident that occurred last August.

According to court documents, at about 4:05 p.m. on Aug. 28, the Redwood Falls Police Department was informed of a hit and run accident on E. 5th Street in Redwood Falls. The victim told police officers her vehicle had been parked when a Dodge Durango struck her car, pushing it back several feet, and nearly hit a neighbor’s vehicle. The victim stated the driver of the suspect vehicle, Iverson, did attempt to exchange insurance information.

Officers located the suspect vehicle parked on East 12th Street, and noted it was damaged consistent with what was reported by the victim. Iverson reported that he had drunk almost a whole bottle of vodka before getting into his car and causing the accident. A test at the Redwood County jail indicated Iverson had a blood alcohol level of .238.

Law enforcement also noted that Iverson’s vehicle did not have an ignition interlock installed although Iverson’s driver’s license indicated an ignition interlock requirement, and four previous losses of his license.
