A Moose Lake man, Sabyn Anthony Polfliet-Welvaert, age 22, was sentenced in Redwood County Court for several thefts near Milroy.

According to court documents, on the morning of Sept. 19, 2020, Redwood County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to a Milroy residence on a report of several thefts. The victims stated a number of items had been taken from their vehicles, including a checkbook, laptop computer, ThinkPad, purse, lunchbox, and a sweatshirt.

While one of the victims was speaking with the deputies, she learned someone had attempted to use her debit card to withdraw $500 in cash from a bank in Marshall several hours earlier. Security camera footage from the bank showed the male who attempted the withdrawal had been wearing the victim’s sweatshirt.

Several hours later, a fraudulent check had been written from the first victim’s checkbook at a bank in South Dakota. The laptop computer was later pawned at a pawnshop in Robbinsdale.

On Oct. 24, 2022, Sabyn Anthony Polfliet-Welvaert was convicted of felony theft in Redwood County Court, and sentenced to 18 months in the correctional facility in St. Cloud, fees and fines of $185, and ordered to pay restitution.
