A criminal threats of violence investigation Thursday led to an area school being placed on brief lockdown.

On Oct. 26, at 11:21 a.m., the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office and Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office worked together on a criminal threats of violence investigation.  The was found within the 200 block of Lorrain Street in the city of Milroy. 

The suspect refused to exit the residence, and law enforcement set up a perimeter.  After a short time, the suspect surrendered and was taken into custody without incident.  The suspect was turned over to the custody of the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office. 

Due to the close proximity of the Milroy Public School, it was placed on a brief lockdown during the incident. 

Assisting agencies included the Minnesota State Patrol and the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office.
