A group of Minnesota National Guard soldiers is gearing up for a deployment to the Middle East, including some from the KLGR-area. According to the 34th Infantry Division on Thursday, the planned deployment will include soldiers from Redwood Falls, Renville, Marshall, New Ulm, and Willmar, among other hometowns in Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, and the Dakotas.

On Saturday, more than 550 members of the 34th Infantry Division “Red Bulls” and their families will attend a “Family Preparation Academy” ahead of a 10-month deployment to Kuwait. The guard members will head to Fort Cavazos, Texas in early February for a month of training before heading overseas.

The Minnesota troops are expected to return home in December of 2024.
