Clarkfield woman dies in collision near Granite Falls Monday morning

A Clarkfield woman died Monday morning when her vehicle collided with another in Yellow Medicine County near Granite Falls.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, at about 7:20 a.m. on Nov. 28, Jean Margaret Miller, age 69, of Clarkfield, was driving a 2017 Didge Grand Caravan northbound on Highway 59. At the intersection with 280th Ave., her vehicle collided with an eastbound Pontiac Montana being driven by Sallianne Ruth Gottschall, age 36, of Clarkfield, and both vehicles ended up in the ditch.

Jean Margaret Miller was declared deceased at the scene. Gottschall was taken to North Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries, while her six-year old male passenger suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Assisting at the scene were the the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office, Clarkfield Ambulance and Fire Department, Granite Falls Ambulance, and North Memorial Air Care.
