The City of Redwood Falls has approved a design and bid for new playground equipment at Legion Park, near the sand volleyball courts.

The Parks and Rec Department received six proposals for the project, and narrowed it down to the top three. Based on the top three, city staff suggested a $112,423 bid from the firm of Minnesota/Wisconsin Playground.

The current playground structure was installed in 1984, and is well past its safe and useful lifetime. Park and Recreation staff will install the playground as well as the border around it. Some trees that will be removed will be replaced.

The old equipment at Legion park will be replaced.

The project is funded by $110,000 in Covid Relief Funds the city received to encourage outdoor play, through a $500 donation from the American Legion Auxiliary, and through the city’s budget.
