Blomkest couple dies, Clara City woman injured in Kandiyohi County collision Wednesday

A Blomkest couple died in a Kandiyohi County collision Wednesday.

On Nov. 29, at about 11:38 a.m., the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office learned of a vehicle crash at the intersection of County Roads 5 and 3. Deputies found two vehicles in the west ditch of County Road 5, north of County Road 3, a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica and a 2022 Ford Edge. Investigators determined the Ford Edge had been westbound on County Road 3 when it collided with the northbound Chrysler Pacifica.

The 83 year old driver of the Chrysler Pacifica, Ronald Lundquist, along with passenger Betty Lundquist, age 76, both of Blomkest, suffered fatal injuries. The driver of the Ford Edge, Beverly Retzlaff, age 75 of Clara City, suffered serious non-life threatening injuries.

Assisting the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office was Raymond Fire Department, Raymond Ambulance, Kandiyohi County Rescue Squad, CentraCare Ambulance, Clara City Ambulance, LifeLink, Minnesota State Patrol, and Willmar Police Department.

The crash remains under investigation.
