Bird Island man injured in one-vehicle Renville County crash Saturday
A Bird Island man was injured in a one-vehicle crash in Renville County Saturday evening.
On Dec. 19, at about 5:07 p.m., the Renville County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a one vehicle crash near the intersection of County Road 5 and 840th Avenue, about two miles north of Bird Island. The caller reported there was one occupant in the vehicle.
Deputies discovered a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado located in a drainage ditch. The vehicle involved was a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado that had been driven by 85 year old William Gass, Jr. of Bird Island.
The preliminary investigation indicates Gass was traveling south on County Road 5, entered the ditch and came to rest in the drainage ditch. He was transported to Olivia Hospital and Clinic with non-life threatening injuries.
The Renville County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Bird Island First Responders, Olivia Ambulance Service, Bird Island Fire Department, Olivia Fire Department, and the Minnesota State Patrol.
The crash remains under investigation.
