A Bayport man, Cameron Eugene Urban, age 39, was sentenced in Redwood County Court for cutting off his ankle monitor while registered as a predatory offender.

According to court documents, on Dec. 7 of last year, the Redwood Falls Police Department attempted to locate Urban, who was on supervised release from the Minnesota Department of Corrections. A corrections officer wanted to see if Urban’s GPS ankle monitor was still working, or if it had been removed. Urban had been convicted earlier of third degree assault, including a charge of kidnapping.

A police officer visited Urban’s last known address, in Redwood Falls. A witness in the residence stated Urban was not in the house, but officers found the ankle monitor on a bed in his bedroom. The strap on the monitor had been cut. Urban’s whereabouts were unknown until he was arrested 20 days later.

On march 4, Urban was sentenced for felony-level predatory offender knowingly committing an act failing to fulfil registration requirements to 34 months in the correctional facility in St. Cloud.
