A Wood Lake man, Craig Ryan Johnson, age 35, was sentenced in Redwood County Court for not keeping his registration as a predatory offender updated.

According to court documents, on March 9, 2021, the Redwood Falls Police Department was contacted by a probation agent reporting he was unable to locate Johnson. As a convicted predatory offender, Johnson is required by the state to update probation officers with current information about location and employment.

Several months earlier, in January 2021, Johnson had disclosed where he was employed in Redwood Falls. When the probation agent tried locating Johnson there, he was told that Johnson had been terminated in February.

On March 11, two days after the police department had been contacted about him, Johnson turned himself into the Redwood County Law Enforcement Center, acknowledging he hadn’t reported the change in his employment.

On Sept. 18, 2023, Johnson was sentenced to 26 months in the correctional facility in S. Cloud for felony-level failure to register as a predatory offender.
