Willmar woman sentenced to a year in jail for assisting Danube rape

Kelsey Jones, age 22, of Willmar on Wednesday was sentenced to 360 days in the Renville County Jail for helping a man rape a teenager in Danube in July of 2022. Jones will serve her jail sentence in 4 separate segments over the next four years. She was also placed on 10 years probation, and if she violates probation she faces a 144 month prison term.

Some terms of probation include registering as a predatory offender, staying away from kids and submit to a lie detector test. Her sentence was a downward departure from state sentencing guidelines.

Jones earlier pleaded guilty to Aiding and Abetting First Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct for holding down the 13-year-old girl while 24-year-old Jordan Freitag of Hutchinson raped her. Frietag has also pleaded guilty and will be sentenced at a later date.
