A wanted fugitive was shot and injured by a drug task force near Granite Falls Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office, on Sept. 27, at about 3:36 p.m., CEE-VI Drug Task Force personnel  attempted to apprehend a fugitive near Granite Falls. During the attempt, the man ran from his vehicle to the rural Granite Falls City Cemetery. The man was armed and refused to follow commands.

During the apprehension, a member of the task force shot the fugitive. Emergency medical services were dispatched, provided medical care, and took the man to a metropolitan hospital. He is reported to be in stable condition.

The Minnesota BCA is on scene and the investigation is ongoing.
