A man allegedly attempted suicide by pointing a firearm at law enforcement before being taken into custody in Kandiyohi County Sunday.

According to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office, on Feb. 25, at almost 5 p.m., law enforcement got a 911 call reporting a suicidal man at a residence south of Prinsburg. Officers arrived to learn the man had a firearm, and that there were other people in the residence. The dispatcher was able to talk the man into leaving the residence.

At one point, the man aimed the firearm at deputies, and told the dispatcher he wanted the deputies to shoot him. Deputies were eventually able to calm the man, and no one was harmed. The man was transported to CentraCare Rice Memorial Hospital, and medically cleared before being placed under arrest for assault.
