A 45 year old St. Paul man was arrested Monday in Meeker County for a drug bust involving illegal drugs being sent through the U.S. Postal Service.

The Postal Service had been alerted to suspicious packages being sent from the State of Nevada to a residence in Eden Valley, in Meeker County. The suspicious packages arrived at one of the service’s facilities, and a drug detecting K9 alerted on the packages. The packages were then opened after a search warrant was obtained and illegal drugs were located inside.

A controlled delivery was then done with the packages. After the St. Paul man took custody of them he was approached by Law Enforcement and tried to flee on foot. He was then arrested without further incident. Law enforcement determined he had 5.1 pounds of methamphetamine and 4.6 pounds of marijuana. This case is still under investigation at this time.

A long term investigation that was being worked on by the United States Postal Inspector, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the Mille Lacs Tribal Police Department and the CEE-VI Drug and Gang Task Force.
