A Marshall man was responsible for an armed stand-off in a Redwood Falls residential area Tuesday.
On September 12, at 10:38 p.m. Redwood Falls Police Department responded to a disturbance call on the 400 block of East 2nd Street in the City of Redwood Falls. A female victim told officers the suspect, Christopher William Heuer, age 32, of Marshall, had allegedly assaulted the female and left before law enforcement arrived. Additional investigation revealed the suspect may have been armed with two firearms, and had outstanding arrest warrants from two other counties.
At about 3 a.m. on September 13th officers tracked Heuer to an apartment in the 1100 block of South Halvorson Street in Redwood Falls. Officers made contact with Heuer by phone, but he refused to exit the residence. The Brown/Lyon/Redwood/Renville Emergency Response Unit was activated and responded to the scene to assist. Negotiators spent several hours attempting to convince Heuer to exit the residence, without success.
Several gas munitions were launched into the residence and by approximately 6 p.m. Heuer exited the apartment and was taken into custody without further incident. Heuer was arrested on GM 5th degree assault, and GM interference with a 911 call.
Assisting at the scene was the Kandiyohi/Meeker Emergency Response Unit, Redwood County Sheriff‘s Department, Centra Care Ambulance, and Minnesota State Patrol.
