The Renville County Sheriff’s Department has identified 69-year-old Blair Anderson of rural Fairfax as the victim of a fatal tree-cutting accident Tuesday. 

On September 13 at 10:43 a.m., the Renville County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call requesting an ambulance for a tree that had fallen on a male subject near 320th St.  southwest of Olivia in Henryville Township.

First-arriving Renville County Sheriff’s Office personnel discovered Anderson on the ground near several downed trees.  Further investigation revealed Anderson had been cutting down several trees in a grove on a rural farm site when a large branch connected to another tree broke off and struck him. Anderson was wearing head, eye, and ear protection.

Lifesaving measures were attempted by medical personnel, but Anderson ultimately succumbed to the injuries.

Assisting at the scene included the Renville County Sheriff’s Office, Olivia Ambulance Service, Olivia Fire/Rescue, Olivia Tech Rescue, and Life Link III.
