Danube man seriously injured Thursday in pole-cutting accident
A Danube man was seriously injured Thursday morning when he was cutting down a pole.
According to the Renville County Sheriff’s Office, at 10:13 a.m. the Renville County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call requesting an ambulance for a male who had fallen around 15 feet, landing on his neck. The subject was located in a gravel pit on the 29000 block of 840th Ave., northeast of Danube.
Emergency personnel discovered 66-year-old William Voelz, of Danube, on the ground near a skid loader. Preliminary investigation revealed Voelz had been standing in the bucket of a skid loader attempting to cut down a pole. When the pole was cut, it fell and hit Voelz, who was knocked out of the bucket and fell about 15 feet. Voelz was flown to a trauma center.
Assisting at the scene included the Renville County Sheriff’s Office, Olivia Ambulance Service, Danube Fire/Rescue, and Life Link III.
