No one was injured when a dairy barn burned in Renville County on Friday evening.

On March 26, at about 7:46 p.m., the  Renville County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a structure fire at  Jansen Dairy, located in the 80000 block of 300th Street. The business is owned by Joel Jansen, age 65, of rural Danube. 

Preliminary investigation revealed the fire began in the milking area of the barn. The fire is believed to have started after a faulty wire  ignited, resulting in the barn and silo becoming fully engulfed. A damage value  estimate has not yet been made, and no one was injured. 

Assisting on scene were: Olivia Fire Department, Danube Fire Department, Renville Fire Department, Redwood Falls Fire Department, Olivia Ambulance  Service, Renville County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol, and the Danube  Police Department.
