Car thief leads law enforcement on high-speed chase in Kandiyohi County Friday

A car thief led law enforcement on a chase that reached over 90 mph in Kandiyohi County on Friday.

On Feb. 9, at 8:38 pm, a Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 going eastbound on 15th Ave near the intersection of 45th St SE for an equipment violation. The vehicle sped up to evade law enforcement, reaching speeds of over 93 mph. The pursuit lasted 9 minutes and went 11 miles.

During the investigation, deputies learned the Silverado was stolen earlier from a residence in the 1300 block of 105th St SE,  and the owner had not known that the vehicle was missing. This incident remains under investigation.
