Alleged impair driving caused Renville County crash Saturday
Impaired driving is alleged to have caused a crash in Renville County Saturday evening.
On March 23, at about 9:05 p.m., the Renville County Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting a one vehicle crash near the intersection of Hwy 212 and 545th Street, about two miles east of Buffalo Lake.
The preliminary crash investigation indicated a 2005 Buick Century, driven by Anthony Aviles, age 20, of Clara City, was travelling east on Hwy 212 when the vehicle entered the ditch on the south side of the road, and damaged a street sign. Aviles reported no injuries, and there were no passengers in the vehicle. Driver impairment is believed to have been a factor in the crash.
Aviles was taken into custody and booked into the Renville County Jail on probable cause 3rd degree driving while impaired. Aviles is expected to be formally charged by the Renville County Attorney’s office.
The Renville County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Buffalo Lake Police Department. The crash remains under investigation.
