The Willmar Police Department responded to two separate gun-related incidents this past weekend.

On Saturday, Nov. 18, Willmar Police were dispatched to the area of Lakeland Drive SE on a report of gunshots. Officers an occupied home in the 600 block of Lakeland Drive was hit several times by gunfire. Officers received information about a dark colored vehicle fleeing southbound on Lakeland Drive after the shooting.

Then, at about 1:31 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 19, Willmar Police were dispatched to a possible fight at a residence in the 600 block of 16th St SW. Officers found an unconscious 18 year old female victim.

Investigation suggested the victim had been struck with the butt of a handgun, leading to the arrest of a 16 year old juvenile male who lived at that residence. The juvenile male was transported to Prairie Lakes Youth Programs pending potential charges of 2nd degree and 5th degree assault.

Additional evidence was recovered from the scene. A 17 year old male and 19 year old female at the residence were also cited for underage consumption (alcohol).

The investigation for both incidents remain ongoing.
