A Willmar man, Eveth Garcia Talabera, age 26, was arrested Wednesday morning on charges including attempted murder and domestic assault.

According to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office, at about 1:12 a.m. on June 21, Willmar Police were called to the 700 block of 2nd St SW on a report of a possible weapons related assault. Officers arrived to find yelling coming from a nearby residence. As they approached, they found blood in a doorway.
Officers did not receive a response, entered the open door of the house, and found more blood. Officers encountered several people, one one resident of the home who ran into a nearby room and barricaded himself inside.
Officers determined there had been an assault with a knife, at least two people received minor injuries, and the suspect was the man barricaded inside the room, identified as Talabera. Officers evacuated the residence and attempted to get Talabera to surrender. Officers forced entry into the room and take him into custody without further incident.
Talabera had suffered injuries from the initial assault and was transported to CentraCare Hospital where he was treated, released and brought to the Kandiyohi County Jail. A Willmar Police Officer also received minor injuries while forcing entry into the room – he was also treated and released from CentraCare Hospital.
A search of the residence yielded two knives that appeared to have been used in the assault.
