Two Redwood Falls men were injured in a sledding accident in Renville County Sunday evening.

On March 24, at about 9:44 p.m., the  Renville County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a sledding accident within the Beaver Falls County Park, three miles northwest of Morton.

Preliminary investigation revealed a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by  a juvenile male of Redwood Falls, was travelling south through the county  park, towing two sleds behind the pickup, with a rider on each sled. One of  the sled riders, Mario Sanchez-Salinas, age 19, of Redwood Falls, went  down the embankment and struck a tree.  

Sanchez-Salinas was transported to CentraCare – Redwood Hospital with  serious injuries. The other sled rider, Kohen Prescott, age 18, of Redwood  Falls, was transported by private vehicle to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  

Assisting the Renville County Sheriff’s office on scene were: CentraCare  Ambulance, Morton First Responders and the State Patrol.  

The Renville County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident.
