A Ramsey man, Nicholas Ray Laden, age 41, was sentenced in Redwood County Court for possessing meth while gambling with stolen money.

According to court documents, on Aug. 28, 2022, the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office was called to Jackpot Junction Casino Hotel after learning Laden was on the premises. Laden had multiple active warrants for his arrest from Anoka and Hennepin Counties. The witness who had reported Laden states he had taken a large amount of cash from her purse when they were in Mankato before traveling to Morton.

Deputies found Laden in the hotel, and placed him under arrest. He acknowledged he had a bit of methamphetamine on his person, and admitted he had taken the witness’s cash to gamble with.

On July 3, Laden was sentenced for felony drug possession to 364 days local confinement, and $310 in fines and fees.
