Morton man admits shooting girlfriend near casino

A Morton man Tuesday pleaded guilty to charges accusing him of shooting his girlfriend in the leg March 15th. Billy Jo Fischer, age 41, shot his 31-year-old girlfriend in the leg as the two were driving away from Prairie’s Edge Casino Resort March 15th.

Fischer’s trial was going to begin Wednesday in Yellow Medicine County District Court, but on Tuesday he pleaded guilty to the charges against him, and a pre-sentence investigation was ordered.

Fischer, was charged with 2nd Degree Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and Possession of Ammunition and a Firearm After Being Convicted of a Violent Crime.
