A Lake Lillian motorcyclist, Peter Joseph Verdon, age 69, was injured in a crash several miles northwest of Morton on Saturday.

On August 12, at about 11:34 a.m., the Renville County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a motorcycle crash on Renville County Road 2 near 316th Street, about five miles north and west of Morton.

Preliminary investigation showed a 2002 Harley Davidson Motorcycle driven by Verdon was westbound on County Road 2 and was attempting to navigate a curve in the road when Verdon lost control of the motorcycle.  The motorcycle struck a wooden barrier post along the shoulder of the road.  Verdon fell off the motorcycle and down a steep embankment in the north ditch.

Verdon was treated at the scene and later flown by helicopter to North Memorial Health Hospital with serious injuries. His condition is currently unknown. Verdon was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. The Renville County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
