Dirt bike riders lead Kandiyohi County deputies on high speed chase Tuesday

Kandiyohi County deputies engaged in an unusual high speed chase early Tuesday morning.

On Nov. 21, at about 12:30 a.m., a Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted to stop two dirt bikes travelling southbound on the Glacial Lakes Trail, starting at the intersection with 72nd Street NE.

Both dirt bikes evaded the deputy at speeds of up to 75 mph, split up, and left the trail. A search of the area turned up an unoccupied yellow Suzuki dirt bike 150 yards off the trail. The pursuit lasted about two minutes, and went about a quarter-mile.

The case remains under investigation. The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Willmar Police Department.
