COVID-19 News: Kandiyohi County Fair canceled for 2020

What would have been the 120th annual Kandiyohi County Fair has been canceled. The fair, which had been set for Aug. 5 – 8 in Willmar, will not happen this summer because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a statement Thursday, the Kandiyohi County Fair Board stated, “…considering the current conditions and uncertainties of COVID-19 restrictions, the board felt this was the best decision for the Kandiyohi County Fair and everyone involved in our Fair.

The statement continued, “We’ve made this decision early, understanding requirements during the COVID-19 Pandemic … will not change in enough time to give our community a meaningful and enjoyable Fair experience. Asking our vendors, exhibitors, carnival and volunteers to wait longer for unknown, and very unlikely changes to these restrictions, is unacceptable.”

The next Kandiyohi County Fair will be in 2021, on Aug. 11 – 14.
