Marjorie Lee Vogt, 92, of Alexandria, MN, formerly of Lamberton, passed away February 17, 2024, at Bethany on the Lake.
A visitation service to honor Margie’s life will be held at Anderson Funeral Home and Crematory in Alexandria on March 8, starting at 5:00 PM and concluding at 7:00 PM.
The funeral service will be held on March 16 at the Lamberton United Methodist Church at 11:00 am with visitation an hour prior.
Marjorie L. Vogt, affectionately known as Margie, passed away on February 17, 2024, at Bethany on the Lake in Alexandria. She was born in Dixon, Illinois, on September 5, 1931, to Myron and Alice (Erickson) Willey. She graduated from Dixon High School in 1949. She was the captain of her 8th grade softball team and was proud their team won the championship. She used her pitching skills later on when playing ball with her children. She worked at the Dixon Home Telephone Company as a telephone operator while attending school and after graduation. The telephone company complimented her on her abilities to sequence complicated telephone calls. She was married to Henry E. Vogt of Rock Falls, Illinois on December 16, 1949, in Dixon, Illinois. In 1951, they moved to a farm near Lamberton, Minnesota. In addition to farming, Margie worked at Control Data Corporation in Redwood Falls, Minnesota for seven years. Henry and Margie continued farming until 1979 when they retired from farming because of Henry’s health. They continued to live on the farm after retirement until Henry passed away in December, 1996. After a fall on the farm in 2013, Margie moved to Alexandria, Minnesota for rehab and then to Bethel Apartments in Alexandria. She then had a stroke in February, 2022 and moved to Bethany on the Lake.
Margie will be fondly remembered for her strong faith, kindness, generosity, and compassion, qualities that defined her interactions with everyone she met. Her love for her family knew no bounds and was a guiding light in her life. She loved teaching Sunday School and playing the piano for the Sunday School children.
Margie was a card shark. She enjoyed playing Tripoly, Gin Rummy, Aggravation, along with many other games. She had a passion for gardening and took great joy in tending to her vibrant collection of flowers, adding beauty to the world around her. She was an avid rock hound. She would take note of the different shapes and uniqueness.
She is survived by her children, Larry (special friend Betty Baumann) Vogt, Linda Lundquist, Myron (Mary) Vogt and Cindy (Scott) Schlapkohl; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and loving family and friends who will cherish the memories they shared with her. Margie’s presence in their lives will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Margie is preceded in death by her parents; spouse, Henry Vogt; brothers, Charles and Norman Willey; and sister, Nancy Willey; daughters-in-law, Carol Vogt, Sally Vogt; and great-grandson Mitchell Johnson.
In the memory of Margie, let us reflect on the warmth and light she brought into the lives of those around her. May she rest in peace knowing she made a profound impact with her gentle spirit and unwavering love.
