June Gort
June Gort, age 92, of Danube, MN passed away peacefully on Friday, December 24, 2021 with her family by her side at All Saints Senior Living in Shakopee where she has been residing for the past 8 years. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Zion United Methodist Church in Danube with Pastor Arthur Miller officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is for one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Arrangements by Dirks-Blem Funeral Service, Olivia, MN.

June Jeanette Gort was born March 25, 1929 in Danube, Minnesota to Ervin and Estella (Lueck) Manthei. She grew up in and graduated from Danube High School in 1948. June was united in marriage to Clarence Gort on June 15, 1949 at the Danube EUB Church and they were blessed with four children. June worked at the Olivia Canning Company, was a waitress at Aquarius Café in Danube and Joni’s Café in Olivia, worked in the kitchen at the Renville County Hospital and in the fall worked at the Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Plant. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, Royal Neighbors, Civic Club, Birthday Club and a faithful member of the Danube Zion United Methodist Church. June enjoyed spending time with family and friends, canning fruits and vegetables, playing cards and doing Word Search puzzles, and going uptown to the café to spend time with friends over coffee. She will be remembered for being very active in her church and having the time to talk and visit with everyone.
June is survived by her four children: Peggy (and Bob) Johnson of Eugene, OR, Randy (and Jeri) Gort of Wayzata, Rick (and Paula) Gort of Cologne and Holly (and Dan) Fahey of Shakopee; her ten grandchildren: Katie Johnson, Ashley (and Ryan) Jaeger, Michael (and Rachel) Johnson, Lindsay (and Andrew) Walker, Dan Gort, Taylor Gort, Mikayla Fahey, Madison Gort, Madelyn Fahey and Alex Gort; her seven great-grandchildren: Dominic Conlon, Gabriel Anderson, Camden Forsgren, Jackson Walker, Emmalyn Walker, June Johnson, Harris Walker and one on the way; her four siblings: Marilyn Hein of Danube, Myrna Kroening of Rochester, Lois (and Bob) Wigen of Rosemount and Mike Manthei of San Carlos, Mexico. June was preceded in death by her parents, Ervin and Estella Manthei; her husband Clarence Gort in 1993 and her brother Sherman Manthei.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff at All Saints Senior Living and Grace Hospice for all their compassion and kindness provided to June these past few years.
