Helen Viola Lindquist, age 98, of Renville, died Tuesday, November 5, 2019, at the RenVilla Nursing Home in Renville.  Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 11, 2019, at Hawk Creek Lutheran Church near Sacred Heart.  The Rev. Dan Bowman will officiate.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be Sunday from 4-6 p.m. at the Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Renville.  Visitation will continue on Monday one hour prior to the services at the church.

Helen Viola Lindquist was born on July 28, 1921, in Sacred Heart, Minnesota to Albert and Oline Tollefson.  She grew up in Sacred Heart and graduated from Sacred Heart High School.  She then attended nurses training at St. Barnabas School of Nursing in St. Paul.  Following her education, Helen worked in Minneapolis and Bemidji prior to moving back to the Sacred Heart area.  She then began working for the Montevideo Hospital.  Helen was united in marriage to Carroll Lindquist on June 8, 1947, at Hawk Creek Lutheran Church.  They made their home on their farm and together they raised their family.  In 1967, Helen went back to work as a nurse at the Granite Falls Hospital. Along with hospital work, Helen also worked as a hospice nurse for many years. She was a member of Hawk Creek Lutheran Church. He loved nursing and caring for people, traveling, time spent at the cabin, and spending time with her friends.  Her family and grandchildren were very important to her and she loved them all dearly.

Survivors include her sons and daughter: Dean (and Paulette) Lindquist of Spicer, Diane (and Don) Heimann of Gepp, AR, and Steven (and Carolyn) Lindquist of Granite Falls; her seven grandchildren: Chris (and Laura) Lindquist, Crystal (Bryce) Swenson, Nicole (and Jon) Ashburn, Jeff (and Mary Vitto) DeGrote, Justin DeGrote, Heidi (Bob) Ramsdell, and Heather Lindquist; eight great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband Carroll and her brothers Maurice and Ardell Tollefson.
