Edward “Mike” Schwab age 74, of Madelia died on March 27, 2024, at REM Heartland in Madelia, MN .

Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Comfrey, MN. Service will be held at the St. Paul’s Catholic Church Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 11:00 am. The clergy will be Fr. Mark Steffl. Interment will be at the St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in Morgan, MN.

Edward “Mike” Schwab was born on July 1, 1949, in Comfrey, MN to Edward and Agnes (Tauer) Schwab. Being his father’s name was Edward, he was called Mike his whole life. He was a young boy with special needs, growing up on a farm outside of Comfrey. Mike loved the farm, especially the barns and animals. As a young child Mike attended school in Bingham Lake for 10 years and then Delft DAC.

For much of his adult life Mike attended a variety of group homes. He attended Residential Advantages in Windom where he worked at Woven &Wood and then, most recently, REM in Madelia where he also worked at the Enterprise Thrift store.

Mike enjoyed being with people. He loved to go shopping with staff, his favorite color was blue. Mike loved to share his photo albums with visitors and staff. He liked bowling and going on road trips. He had a passion for barns. Mike drew barns and colored them resembling the barn from his childhood. He was the happiest when he was at home. Mike ‘s purpose in life was to share his happiness and help others with patience, caring and compassion.

Mike died on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at his REM home in Madelia, MN. Mike was a son, brother, uncle and even a great uncle.
He is survived by his siblings – Patrick (Pam) Schwab of Willmar, MN, Jim (Linda) Schwab of Comfrey, MN, Arlene (Tom) Moede of Dallas, TX, and Clete (JoAnne) Mages of Lakewood CO, Pat Mages (Gilbert)of Stevens Point, WI, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents – Edward and Agnes Schwab and brothers – Arnie Mages and Gilbert Mages.
