Douglas L. Bredeson, age 76, of Hillcrest Rehabilitation Center and formerly Sleepy Eye passed away Monday, April 8, 2024 at Mayo Hospital in Mankato, Minnesota. A Celebration of Life will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, April 15, 2024 from Nelson-Hillestad Funeral Home in Redwood Falls, Minnesota with full Military Honors to follow outside the funeral home.

Douglas Lee Bredeson, the son of Eldore and Rose (Grove) Bredeson, was born October 28, 1947 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. He graduated from Fergus Falls High School and later enlisted in the Army where he bravely served during the Vietnam War from January 15, 1968, until his honorable discharge on August 21, 1969. Doug married Cynthia Uhren in 1971 and raised 5 children together.
Douglas was a loving husband to Janet Thompson, whom he married on June 16, 2020. Douglas enjoyed hunting with his son and grandsons, fishing, playing darts, enjoying trips to the casino, and his love for horses.
His memory will be cherished by those he held dear. Douglas is survived by his beloved wife, Janet; children, Michelle, Carrin, Kristina (Mike), Nicholas (Tiffany) and Rachel (Tony); step-son Travis (fiancé, Lauren); grandchildren, Michael (Taylor), Lianna (Aaron), Olivia , Meaghan, Syrina, Jonny, Jenna, Julya, Sophia, Noah; 2 great-grandchildren and a grandchild on the way; brothers Les and Wayne; sister Joan; along with many other family members and friends.
In addition to his immediate family members who survive him are close relatives who have gone before him in eternal rest – his parents Eldore and Rose; father-in-law Ronald Thompson; son-in-law, Eric; brother-in-law, and infant sister Elaine.
Doug will forever be remembered for his kind heart and zest for life. His journey may have reached its twilight, but his legacy will continue to shine bright in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
