Catherine “Katie” Reinert

Catherine “Katie” Reinert, age 87, of Bird Island, MN died on Wednesday September 8, 2021 at her home. Visitation will be Saturday, September 11, 2021 from 9 to 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bird Island, followed by a private family service. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials are preferred to St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Arrangements by Dirks-Blem Funeral Service of Olivia.

Catherine P. Reinert was born November 26, 1933 in rural Bird Island, MN to August and Bertha (Thome) Lingl. She grew up in Bird Island and attended St. Mary’s School. She married Robert “Bob” Reinert on November 13, 1954 and they made their home in Bird Island. Bob and Katie were the parents of six children. She worked for many years at Fingerhut in Bird Island and CSI in Hector. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the CCW, Catholic United Financial, and American Legion Auxiliary and volunteered with Meals on Wheels.  In Katie’s free time she had enjoyed gardening, sewing and walking.

Katie is survived by her five children: Christine Reinert, Douglas Reinert, Barbara Meyer, Daniel (and Joanne) Reinert, and Dennis (and Darla) Reinert; her 12 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. Katie was preceded in death by her parents; her son, David Reinert; and her eight brothers: Joe, Don, Florian, Clarence, Hank, Albert, Francis and Raymond “Shorty” Lingl.
