A Willmar man was injured in a Kandiyohi County three-vehicle collision Monday evening.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, at about 5:12 p.m., a Chrysler Town and County driven by Doug Leroy Nelson, age 54, of Willmar was rear-ended by a Dodge Caravan following him. The crash pushed Nelson’s vehicle head-on into the path of another Dodge Caravan, this one headed north on Highway 71.

Nelson was flown to the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis with non-life threatening injuries. Also injured in the crash was Krystal Marie Vanheuveln, age 37, of Willmar, and Darlene Marie Benson, age 43, of Olivia. They were both transported to Carris Rice hospital in Willmar with non-life threatening injuries.

Assisting the state patrol was the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office, Blomkest Fire, Willmar and Lake Lillian Ambulance and North Memorial Air Care.
