A Warroad man, Phoutthasa Prathane, age 36, was sentenced in Redwood County court for leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase through Redwood Falls.

According to court documents, on April 12, 2022, at about 3:45 in the morning, a Redwood County deputy noticed a tan Cadillac sedan missing a front license plate on Highway 71 east of Redwood Falls. When the deputy followed the car, he noted it didn’t have a rear license plate, either.

When the deputy turned on his emergency lights, the Cadillac made a U-turn and fled toward Redwood Falls, driving down Bridge Street at up to 110 mph. At Sunrise Boulevard, near the Liquor Lodge, Redwood Falls Police set up a spike strip, which didn’t stop the Cadillac.

Finally, the Cadillac stopped near the intersection of Knox Ave. several miles west of Redwood Falls. The driver was captured, and Phoutthasa Prathane was transported to the Redwood County jail. where deputies learned he had an Otter Tail County felony warrant for first degree assault and attempted homicide.

On Sept. 12, Phoutthasa Prathane was sentenced for felony fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle to 17 months in the correctional facility in St. Cloud.
