Two senior citizens from Clara City were injured in a collision near Montevideo on Wednesday morning.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, at about 10:43 a.m. on Feb. 2, Harlan George Broers, age 82, of Clara City, was driving a Ford Focus westbound on Highway 7. Near the intersection with Highway 23, Broers’ vehicle collided with a northbound International straight truck pulling a turkey loader, and driven by Dennis John Meyer, age 60, of Morgan.

Broers was taken to the hospital in Montevideo with non-life threatening injuries. His passenger, Rita Louise Broers, age 80, of Clara City was taken to North Memorial Hospital in Oakdale with non-life threatening injuries. Meyer was uninjured.

Assisting on the scene were the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office, North Air Care, Montevideo Ambulance, and the Clara City Police, Fire, and Ambulance.
