Arson suspected in rural fire near Comfrey Sunday morning

Arson is the suspected cause of a rural fire near Comfrey Sunday morning.

At about 11:39 a.m., the Brown County Sheriff’s Office and Sleepy Eye Fire Department responded to a structure fire on property owned by Cook Family Farms, at 29616 150th Street, near Comfrey.

This fire resulted in the loss of an outbuilding and straw. An unknown person or persons are suspected of starting a grass fire that spread to this building, resulting in total loss of the structure. The fire remains under investigation.

Sleepy Eye Fire Department was assisted by Comfrey and Springfield Fire Departments.  

The Brown County Sheriff’s Office is reminding citizens to report any suspicious activity, vehicle, or persons.  If at all possible to obtain vehicle descriptions and/or license plate numbers.
