Sandy Kubesh, age 76, of Olivia died Monday, July 5, 2021 at the Olivia Hospital in Olivia.  A Celebration of Life will be Friday, July 16, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Cross of Calvary Lutheran Church in Olivia with Pastor Matt Hausken officiating.  Burial will be in the Olivia Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at Cross of Calvary Lutheran Church and will continue for one hour prior to the funeral on Friday.  Arrangements by Dirks-Blem Funeral Service, Olivia, MN.

Sandra Kaye Kubesh was born April 3, 1945 in Urbana, Illinois to Ellsworth and Opal (Suggs) Dahlquist.  She grew up in Peoria, Illinois and graduated from Woodruff High School in 1963.  Sandy attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN. Sandy married Alton Kubesh in St. Paul on September 6, 1968. She worked at 3M in St. Paul before moving to Olivia.    She worked for Damian’s Jeweler in Olivia and then for BOLD Schools as a paraprofessional for special education.  Sandy was also an advisor for the cheerleading and dance line teams and worked with Community Ed.  She loved attending sporting events of her grandchildren and kids of the community throughout her life.  Sandy enjoyed playing cards, marbles, and dominos.  Sandy and Alton enjoyed traveling and spent many winters in Florida and summers at the family cabin on Diamond Lake.  In her younger years she loved ballet and tap dance.  She cherished time and was proud of her grandchildren and family.   Sandy was a member of the Santa’s Closet, Food Shelf, Lions Club, Relay For Life, and volunteered at the Olivia Hospital.

Sandy is survived by her husband, Alton of 52 years; her two children: Kristen (and Jeremy) Kopel of Olivia and Scott (and Christine) Kubesh of Willmar; her six grandchildren: Taylor Fennern of Apple Valley, Morgan Fennern of Apple Valley, Kaylee Fennern of Olivia, Baylie Kubesh of Olivia, Alycia Holwerda of Willmar and Carson Kubesh of Olivia; her brothers and sisters-in-law:  LaVerne (and JoAnne) Gunter, Ron (and Barb) Kubesh, Mike Landers, Pat McMullin, Darla Lilley, Marcia Wooden, Winnie Nelson and many nieces and nephews.  Sandy was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings: Jim McMullin, Joe Lilley, John Lilley and William Powell and her father-in-law and mother-in-law Edward (and Irene) Kubesh.
