Janice L. Hammre, age 72, of Brooklyn Park, formerly of the Renville-Sacred Heart area, died Saturday, February 29, at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale.  A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 6, at 2 p.m. at Hawk Creek Lutheran Church near Sacred Heart.  The Rev. Dan Bowman will officiate.  Burial will be in the church cemetery at a later date.  Visitation will be Friday one hour prior to the services at the church.  Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Service, Renville, MN.

Janice L. Hammre was born on April 29, 1947, in Granite Falls, Minnesota to Arvid and Frances (Reiten) Hammre.  She grew up in Sacred Heart and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1965.  Janet worked from her home for Warner Manufacturing in Sacred Heart for many years.  Janice loved dogs, and she enjoyed breeding and raising several litters over the years.  Janice lived at the RenVilla Nursing Home for several years, prior to moving to Robbinsdale and finally to Ecumen Prairie Lodge in Brooklyn Center.  She loved shopping, her dogs, visiting with people, and watching “I Love Lucy” and her favorite soap operas.

She is survived by her brother Tom (and Jody) Hammre of Zimmerman, her sister-in-law Denise Hammre of Sacred Heart, her nieces and nephews: Cassie (and Matt) Monson, Shawn (and Heather) Hammre, Mark (and Mary) Hanson, and Nicki (and Jake) Harris; her great nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Donald.
