Daniel “Dan” Hotovec, age 70, of Olivia died Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at St. Benedict’s Senior Community in St. Cloud.  Mass of Christian Burial is Tuesday, June 16th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia with Father Joe Steinbeisser as celebrant. Burial is in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 9 – 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Arrangements by Dirks-Blem Funeral Service, Olivia, MN.

Daniel Joseph Hotovec was born November 14, 1949 at Willmar, Minnesota to Albert and Eleanor (Vosika) Hotovec. Dan grew up on the family farm NE of Danube. He graduated from Danube High school in 1967. Dan married Linda Binger and they had two children. Dan stayed very busy; he worked at the Olivia Canning Factory and was an EMT for Olivia Ambulance for over 30 years. Dan was also a part-time police officer for over 20 years in Danube and with the Renville County Sheriff’s Department. Dan was an outdoorsman who enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, and camping. He especially loved time spent with his children and grandchildren, playing board games with them and hearing about their sporting events. He enjoyed keeping up with current events and discussing them.

Dan is survived by his two children, David Hotovec of Olivia and Christine (and Tony) Kenning of Clearwater, MN; five grandchildren: Colten Hotovec, Jaxon Kenning, Camryn Kenning, Sutton Kenning, and Payton Kenning; five siblings: Gary (and Holly) Hotovec of Danube, Patricia (and Dean) Slagter of Danube, James (and Sharon) Hotovec of Burnsville, Dale (and Sherry) Hotovec of Oshkosh, WI, and Nancy (and Michael) Gorres of Danube; and many nieces and nephews.  Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Eleanor Hotovec.
