St. Aloysius Church in Olivia was vandalized last Sunday.

According to the Renville County Register, a woman entered the church after services last Sunday and damaged a statue of St. Mary and some electronic vigil lights, with damages estimated into the four digit range. In a letter to parishioners, church officials said the woman was “emotionally unstable” and was taken to the hospital by police for treatment. A church staff member said she believed the woman had been under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The letter to parishioners said the damaged items were insured, and they asked people to pray for the woman.
