Renville-Sibley Co-op Power notice to members.

Due to the current widespread and extreme cold weather conditions, the electric system is stressed which means that generating capacity has dropped below demand for electricity in some areas. This could result in rolling outages and increased load control across Renville-Sibley’s service area. Members with generators may want to get them prepared should an outage occur. This is a regionwide event, meaning consumers of multiple other utilities could also be affected.

Renville-Sibley is asking our members to reduce electric consumption over the next 48 hours to help reduce the stress of the electric system by not running high energy use appliances and turning the thermostat down a degree or two. Any action our members can do to reduce energy consumption during this time is appreciated.  More information will be posted on our website.
