A drunk driver led local law enforcement on a low-speed chase to Morton Saturday morning.

On May 8, at about 10:18 a.m., the Redwood Falls Police Department was dispatched to the Minnwest Bank on Bridge Street in Redwood Falls about a call of a male driver asleep at the wheel in the drive-thru lane of  the bank. Before officers and Centra Care Ambulance arrived, the driver drove away from the bank, headed eastbound on Bridge Street.

Officers located the vehicle travelling eastward on East Bridge Street near the Wal-Mart. They observed the vehicle swerving over the center line and the fog line, making other motorists move out of  the way to avoid collision. The officer activated his lights and siren, but the vehicle  failed to pull over. A low speed pursuit was initiated.

The Redwood County Sheriff’s Department and Minnesota State Patrol jumped in to assist at that point. After following the vehicle down Highway 19, the police officer was finally able to stop it in Morton using a pursuit intervention technique. The driver, and only occupant in the vehicle, Logan  Andrew Alan Huber of Redwood Falls, was taken into custody without further incident.

Huber is being held in the Redwood County Jail on charges of Fleeing a Peace Officer in Motor Vehicle, two counts of DWI, and Reckless Driving.
